Wedding Planner Checklist

12 Months to Go

  Discuss major details of wedding with partner and parents.

  Discuss budget and who is paying for what.

  Consider hiring a wedding planner.

  Talk to the officials where you will be holding the ceremony and book the date.

10 Months to Go

  Choose the members of your bridal party and ask if they want to be involved.

  Meet with suppliers: Photographer, videographer, caterers, florists, Bands or DJ. Discuss budget and plans.

  Discuss guest list with partner and parents.

  Send out notification of engagement to local newspapers.

  Discuss Honeymoon: who will organize it and who will pay for what.

  Keep your budget updated.

8 Months to Go

  Start planning what music you would like at the ceremony and reception.

  Start shopping for dresses (bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses, flower girl's dress)

  Buy a wedding planner and make a system for storing essential paper or printed items like invitations, etc.

  Apply for vacation days from work.

6 Months to Go

  Define color scheme for wedding.

  Order wedding dress.

  Design and order printed items (invitations, napkins, stationary, etc)

  Start shopping around for suits or tux for the groom and groomsmen.

  Start picking out items and dish/silverware patterns for wedding gift table in your chosen store.

3 Months to Go

  Buy wedding rings and have them engraved.

  Wedding dress is ordered and underway.

  Start your storyboard for the wedding.

  Order wedding cake(s).

  Meet with suppliers and go over all details.

  Start planning seating arrangement.

  Finish guest list and start compiling invitations.

2 Months to Go

  Check state and county marriage license requirements and apply for license.

  Plan rehearsal dinner and bridesmaids lunch.

  Make rooming arrangements for out of town guests.

  Send out invitations.

  Buy gifts for members of the wedding party, partner and parents.

  Make appointment for manicure / pedicure (day before wedding) and hair and makeup (trial run 3-4 weeks before wedding and appointment on wedding day).

  Update storyboard.

  Keep budget updated.

One Month to Go

  Storyboard should be near finished.

  Pick up / finish buying all decoration and accessories.  Store in a safe place and write this place down in storyboard.

  Final clothing fittings.

  Arrange for transportation to ceremony and reception.

2 Weeks to Go

  Pick up marriage license and any other required official papers.

  Inform all suppliers of final guest count.

  Pick up change-of-name forms for official documents (license, bank accounts, social insurance etc) and start filling these out.

One Week to Go

  Host bridesmaids lunch and give out gifts.

  Give all members of the wedding party a copy of the storyboard.

  Prepare wallet with money for the best man, so that he can pay all incurrances like tips and donations.

  Pack bags for honeymoon.

One Day to Go

  Pack "Emergency Bag".

  Pick up Flowers, Cake, anything not being delivered.

  Go over storyboard one last time.

  Decorate church and venue.

  Get Manicure and Pedicure.

  Go to rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

Wedding Day

  Have a good breakfast.

  Get hair and makeup done.

  Relax and enjoy your day!
